Covid-19 Update

Due to the Covid-19 virus, our usual practice operations have changed.

On the advice of the HSPC we are no longer offering a walk in service. Please contact reception by phone if you need an appointment on 052 6121288

Our reception staff will enquire if you have any respiratory symptoms e.g. cough, fever, or shortness of breath, and if so, a triage nurse will call you back to assess your condition. If it is deemed necessary for you to see a doctor, a nurse will give you an appointment at our afternoon respiratory clinic. You will then be talked through the procedure for attending the respiratory clinic.

For those patients who do not have respiratory symptoms and who need essential appointments, in so far as is possible, will be given an appointment time with their usual doctor.

Information for employees requiring work absences due to COVID-19 can be found here: https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/99104a-covid-19-coronavirus

As the situation evolves we will continue follow the expert advice so please check back for any changes. We would like to thank you for your cooperation during these challenging times.

How can I access out of hours service?

Caredoc is available from 6pm each evening.

Out Of Hours Service

Local doctors in your area and neighbouring areas have organised the service for patients with urgent medical problems who need to contact a doctor after surgeries close. During these times patients will ring a central number ( 1850 334 999 ). A call taker in the Caredoc call assessment centre will answer this number and take the patients details.

A nurse will ring the patients back and give advice to the patients, or if necessary organise appointment times for patients to be seen at local treatment centres or arrange a home visit if necessary.

Appointments to see the doctor must be arranged by phone before the patients attend the centres. Doctors will be based in the treatment centres and are driven in cars equipped with the most up to date medical equipment. These cars are in constant communication with the nurse in the call assessment centre.

It is intended to provide a high quality out of hour’s service for urgent cases. Where patient contacts the service regarding a problem that can wait until their own doctor’s surgery opens they will be advised to arrange an appointment to visit their own doctor at the next routine surgery. In this way doctors will be free to deal with urgent cases promptly.
